The Marin Poetry Chair is an actual chair made out of poetry books
designed and created by West Marin Artist Todd Pickering. The
Poetry Chair will become a kind of traveling poetry circus. The
Poetry Chair will make appearances at Galleries, at The Marin
County Fair, at Senior Centers, Schools, The Mall, atop Mount
Tamalpais, out at the beaches in Point Reyes, and many other
locations. The Poetry Chair will be the site of readings, writing
workshops, and improvisational poetic theater.
This site will celebrate and document the Poetry Chair's movements throughout the county over the next year or more. The documentation will include poems written by visitors to the chair and posted as blog entries, video, still photographs and even music and art works people create about the chair and their experiences with the chair. This site is a public space for people throughout the county to submit poems, dreams, wishes, post poetic photographs, poetic video, and anything creative related to poetry in Marin County.
WE INVITE
YOU TO COME JOIN US ON LOCATION, SIT IN THE CHAIR, AND WRITE, OR READ,
OR JUST BE. WE WELCOME YOUR PARTICIPATION TODAY!!
